Birth To Three Matters

Birth to Three Matters is a Framework to support Children in their earliest years.

The framework recognises that there are Early Years Practitioners working with children under the age of three in a variety of settings providing them with a huge range of opportunities. Older children are working within the Foundation Stage Curriculum and now the younger ones have their own framework of support, information, guidance and challenges which values each child's uniqueness.

The Foundation Curriculum reflects practise in both the home and nursery.

As we help babies in our care, develop into toddlers and then pre-schoolers, we can clearly see them develop into:

q       A Strong Child

q       A Skilful Communicator

q       A Competent Learner

q       A Healthy Child

And it looks at four broad stages of

q       Heads Up, Lookers and Communicators (0-8 months)

q       Sitters, Standers and Explorers (8-18 months)

q       Movers, Shakers and Players (18 - 24 months)

q       Walkers, Talkers and Pretenders (25-36 months)

The most important thing the framework highlights is the importance of play - young children learn through play, and can not be rushed through an activity - children need choice of what to play with, they may need to be uninterrupted and have time to play alone, or with others in a safe and supervised environment.

Golden Valley House Day Nursery provides plenty of opportunity for play and structures it only by providing different resources that can be used in a range of ways.

The framework links amazingly well to the Foundation Stage providing a range of opportunities, time to experiment and explore, supporting each child through their experiences.

Providing your child with a caring, loving environment, offering a variety of experiences, stimulation and time to play then you are undoubtedly providing the opportunity for your child to develop into a Strong, Skillful, Competent, and Healthy Child.
